Iran's Security Council Chairman Azizi said on Tuesday (July 14th) that the Iranian parliament has begun to work on formulating a bill regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
AFP reported that Aziz said on X: "Last night, just as the US drone was shot down, the Iranian parliament officially submitted the 'Strategic Action Bill for the Security and Sustainable Development of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf'."
"We will continue to firmly defend our red line, especially in the management of the Strait of Hormuz. This is just the first step; subsequent measures will be introduced shortly."
Last week, the United States and Iran once again clashed over how to manage the Strait of Hormuz, which has cast doubt on the framework agreement signed last month aimed at ending the wars in the Middle East.
The Iranian side hopes to control the Strait of Hormuz and charge fees for passing vessels, but the US side firmly rejected this proposal.
Iran announced on Sunday (the 12th) that it would close the Strait of Hormuz. US President Trump said on Monday (the 13th) that the US was "taking over" the Strait of Hormuz and reopening the Iranian ports, while proposing to impose a 20% fee on transit goods.
