US President Trump announced the resumption of the maritime blockade on Iran and emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open, regardless of whether Iran participates or not.

Trump also said: "From now on, the United States will be known as the 'guardian of the Strait of Hormuz'. But as the guardian, in fairness, the United States will receive a 20% share of all freight volumes as compensation to cover all the expenses necessary for maintaining security in this volatile region."

He did not elaborate, but emphasized that the relevant procedures and preparations would be initiated immediately.

On Monday (July 13th), Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social, saying: "The Strait of Hormuz is now open and will remain open, regardless of whether Iran participates or not."

He continued: "We will resume the (sea) blockade against Iran. This is because we only prevent Iranian ships or clients from entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz. All other countries will have fair and open access to the strait."

The United States and Iran have recently clashed again, and the ceasefire situation is extremely fragile. Both sides have their own opinions on the control of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump told Fox News earlier on Monday that the US is taking over the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian military, however, refused the US's attempt to intervene in the management of the strait.
