Cambodia denies that Cambodian drones violated Thailand

The Ministry of Defense of Cambodia denied the statement made by the Thai military that "more than 250 drones were found taking off from Cambodia, infringing upon Thailand's sovereign territory."

Xinhua News Agency reported that in a press release on Monday (December 29) evening, the spokesperson of the Cambodian Ministry of Defense, Mari Sukhyeda, said that the Cambodian Ministry of Defense completely denies the claims made by the Thai side. In addition, the Ministry of Defense of Cambodia and provincial governments, especially those in border areas, have issued strict instructions to prohibit the takeoff of all types of drones. We confirm that no such drone takeoff incidents have occurred.

She said that the Cambodian government and military reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to implementing the joint statement issued by the Joint Committee on Border Affairs of Cambodia and Thailand on December 27, the joint peace statement signed by the two countries on October 26, and other relevant agreements. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that the people in the border areas of the two countries can resume their normal lives as soon as possible and regain peace, stability and security.

The Thai military accused Cambodia of violating the ceasefire agreement on December 29. The Thai military said that more than 250 drones were found flying into Thai airspace from the Cambodian side on the evening of the 28th, indicating "Cambodia's continuous provocative behavior and hostile stance towards Thailand".

The third meeting of the Joint Committee on Border Affairs between Thailand and Cambodia was held at the border crossing in Chanthaburi Province, Thailand on December 27. The meeting issued a joint statement promising that both sides would implement a ceasefire starting from 12 noon on the same day.
