The severe delay in aircraft delivery has raised concerns among IATA and airlines

The president of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Walsh, said on Monday (June 2nd) that the extension of aircraft delivery delays and supply chain bottlenecks have led to increased maintenance and repair time, hindering the growth of airlines and urgently addressing this issue.

Reuters reported that Walsh said at the IATA annual meeting in New Delhi, India, that the prediction of aircraft delivery delays in the next ten years was "too exaggerated and unacceptable". He said that the aviation industry is evaluating legal solutions for delays, but prefers to cooperate with manufacturers.

The manufacturing industry is in a severe recession.

IATA pointed out that the number of new aircraft planned to be delivered this year is 26% less than the commitment made a year ago, but the delivery volume of 1,692 will still reach the highest level since 2018.

In its industry outlook update, IATA said: "Given that supply chain issues are expected to persist until 2025 and possibly even into the late 2020s, expectations may be further lowered."

Emirates President Clark said on Sunday (the 1st) that the pandemic is no longer an excuse for delivery delays and demanded that aircraft manufacturers take responsibility. Saudi budget airline flyadeal has also expressed similar dissatisfaction.

flyadeal's CEO Greenway told Reuters: "Delays are becoming increasingly unforgivable." Frankly speaking, due to the lack of transparency, we are becoming more and more anxious. How should we plan? I mean, this has gone beyond the realm of a joke.

After experiencing a quality crisis and workers' strikes last year that led to a decline in production, Boeing is striving to stabilize and increase its output.

Last week, sources told Reuters that Airbus warned airlines that the delivery of its aircraft might be delayed for another three years.

Despite the challenges, airlines are still seeking to purchase more aircraft to ensure that they can meet future travel demands.
