The Korean Central News Agency reported on Wednesday (January 28th) that the North Korean Missile Bureau conducted an upgraded test of a large-caliber rocket launcher weapon system the previous day, with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un observing the event on-site.

It is reported that the Missile Bureau conducted a test launch on the 27th to verify the combat capabilities of the upgraded large-caliber rocket launcher. Kim Jong Un observed the test launch on site and expressed satisfaction, stating that the attack capability of the large-caliber rocket launcher has reached its highest level.

The purpose of this experiment is to further enhance North Korea's nuclear war deterrence capability.

Kim Jong Un said that possessing a powerful offensive capability and implementing a containment strategy based on this is the unwavering national defense policy of the Workers' Party. The Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party will propose the next stage plan for further enhancing the nuclear war containment capability.

It is reported that the four rockets launched on the 27th precisely hit an offshore target 358.5 kilometers away from the launch site. Kim Jong Un's daughter, Kim Joo-ae, accompanied him to observe.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea announced on the afternoon of January 27th that the military had detected that North Korea had launched multiple ballistic missiles from the northern part of Pyongyang towards the eastern sea area. The flight distance of these missiles was approximately 350 kilometers. This was the second time that North Korea had launched ballistic missiles after January 4th, and it was also the second time this year.

Analysts believe that given that the 9th congress of the Workers' Party is expected to be held in early February, North Korea's recent missile launch may be an attempt to enhance its presence.
