North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated at the second expanded plenary session of the 9th Central Committee of the Workers' Party that the various actions taken by the United States and South Korea this year have seriously deteriorated the situation on the Korean Peninsula. He also reaffirmed the principle of "strengthening nuclear forces" and once again clearly stated the hostile policy towards South Korea.

Xinhua News Agency quoted the Korean Central News Agency as reporting on Tuesday (June 23rd) that North Korea held the 9th Plenary Session of the 2nd Central Committee of the Workers' Party from June 20th to 22nd.

Kim Jong Un said that since the beginning of this year, the United States and South Korea have been increasingly conducting activities such as reinforcing troops within the region, even advancing South Korea's nuclear submarine program, and holding another "nuclear consultation group meeting". All these actions have seriously deteriorated the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Kim Jong Un emphasized that efforts should be accelerated to complete the construction project of a 10,000-ton strategic missile cruiser, and that efforts should be made to develop and produce conventional weapons that are of great significance for enhancing the combat capabilities of the Korean military. He also pointed out that it is necessary to ensure the completion of the ongoing fortressification project along the southern border and the construction of a new naval fleet base to strengthen the national defense forces.

Furthermore, Kim Jong Un reaffirmed North Korea's foreign policy stance. He pointed out that certain "specific countries" have disregarded international law and acted with arrogance, causing extreme instability in the international situation. The current complex international situation and geopolitical realities cannot be ignored, and we should not avoid them.

He said that the sovereignty and security of the country can only be guaranteed through strong power. We should, from the perspective of effectively safeguarding national interests and achieving national prosperity and military strength, actively and proactively carry out foreign affairs work.

The participants unanimously agreed that continuously strengthening nuclear capabilities and maintaining the status of a nuclear-armed country is the only correct approach to dealing with the changes in the international military and political situation.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, the 2nd plenary session of the 9th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea once again officially reaffirmed its hostile policy towards South Korea. The report emphasized that the Workers' Party of Korea has officially designated South Korea as the most hostile country and should fully adhere to the party's principle of hostile struggle.

Furthermore, at the 9th Second Plenary Session, the organizational structure of the Workers' Party was adjusted. Cho Yong-won, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea, was appointed as the Director of the Organization and Guidance Department of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party.
