Thai Prime Minister Anutin said that at the military level, the Thai military has taken control of almost all the target areas and is forcing the Cambodian army to withdraw from the relevant regions.

Xinhua News Agency reported that Anutin told reporters in Surin Province, which is located on the border between Thailand and Cambodia, on Sunday (December 21) that the three armed forces of Thailand have controlled almost all the target areas and are closely monitoring these areas to prevent another fierce conflict.

Anutin said that he has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify Thailand's policy position at the special meeting of foreign ministers in Azerbaijan on Monday (22nd) : that is, Thailand is not the party that breaches the contract or invasions, and all actions are aimed at safeguarding national sovereignty and security. Thailand has always adhered to the principles of international law and strived to minimize losses without further escalating the conflict.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Thailand, Surasan, said at a press conference on the same day that the conflict along the Thai-Cambodia border has claimed the lives of 34 Thai civilians. However, as the intensity of border conflicts gradually subsides, residents in some areas have returned home, and the number of shelters has decreased.

Conflicts have broken out several times along the Thai-Cambodia border this year. After signing a ceasefire agreement witnessed by the leaders of Malaysia and the United States in October, the two sides exchanged fire in the disputed sovereignty area earlier this month and accused each other of breaching the agreement.

Thai media reported that the Cambodian side was still shelling the border area of Sakhon Province in Thailand on Sunday afternoon. The Aland District Government of Sarawak Province has issued a notice, requiring residents to immediately move to a safe location.

A spokesperson for the Thai Navy said on the same day that a Marine soldier was injured when he accidentally stepped on a landmine while on duty in the Ban Nong Ri area of Trat Province. This indicates that the Cambodian side is still using landmines in the relevant area, which seriously violates international law.

The Cambodian side accused the Thai army of continuously firing shells at multiple locations within Cambodia and claimed that this round of conflict has caused 19 deaths in the country.

Cambodian Ministry of Defense spokesperson Mari Sukchida said on Saturday (20th) that late the previous night, a Thai F-16 fighter jet dropped two bombs, destroying a bridge located at the border between Oddar Merchey Province and Siem Reap Province.
