The Indonesian government will cultivate up to 500,000 skilled technical workers through vocational training and education to meet the demand for skilled Indonesian workers in foreign markets and at the same time reduce the export of domestic helpers.
The Jakarta Globe reported that Mu Haimin, the coordinating minister for Community Empowerment, said that this policy reflects the strategic transformation direction, which is to promote professional talents to enter those formal industries that can provide better security and higher economic returns.
Mu Haimin said at the commemoration event of International Migrants Day 2025 held in Jakarta on Thursday (December 18th) : "We will continue to increase the number of professional migrant workers in the formal industry while reducing reliance on exported domestic helpers."
Mu Haimin also said that President Prabowo has instructed the government to cultivate as many skilled workers as possible that can be exported to various countries based on the demands of the global labor market.
