Indonesia's senior Economy Minister Ellanga said that the final agreement reached between Indonesia and the United States on trade tariffs will be signed by the leaders of the two countries, but it is not expected to be completed within this year.
Reuters reported that Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia's chief negotiator, disclosed on Monday (December 15) that he would travel to Washington on Wednesday (December 17) to continue talks with the US side on the trade tariff agreement. He indicated that although the signing of the final agreement is not expected to be completed within this year, the Indonesian side still maintains the expectation of completing the drafting of the legal text of the agreement within this year.
Ellanga emphasized at the press conference that since the two countries reached the framework agreement in July this year, the Indonesian side has not accepted any new demands put forward by the United States. This indicates that Indonesia has maintained its consistent position in the negotiations and is striving to reach an agreement that is in line with its own interests.
