South Korean President Lee Jae-myung will pay a two-day state visit to Japan next Tuesday and hold a summit with Japanese Prime Minister Saane Takaishi.
Lee Jae-myung's office issued a statement on Friday (January 9th) saying that the summit between the two countries will be held in Nara City on January 13th, and then the leaders of the two countries will have dinner together. It is expected that the two sides will discuss regional and international affairs as well as economic and social issues.
The statement pointed out that the leaders of the two countries will jointly attend diplomatic events, and Lee Jae-myung will also meet separately with South Korean expatriates in Japan.
Lee Jae-myung's office said that this summit aims to consolidate the relations between South Korea and Japan and promote a stable and future-oriented development direction.
Lee Jae-myeong just concluded his four-day state visit to China on January 7th. This visit to Japan was carried out against the backdrop of ongoing tensions in China-Japan relations due to the Taiwan-related remarks made by Kaohsiung City.
